Not only have I experienced graphical glitches that have prevented me from playing the game using the DX11. My personal interest in Civ 5 is at an all-time low. But the lack of serious multi-player and the flagging interest of the hard-core, more active community members are going to change the nature of the player base. Sulla picks apart each broken feature, focusing primarily on the failed Global Happiness system, erratic diplomacy, deeply flawed multiplayer, failure to contain city spam, and the infamous one-unit-per-tile combat system that he views as the ultimate root of many of the other design flaws.Д¬ivilization 5 will continue to sell well, and itвЂ™s true that a large number of players who play it briefly and casually will come away satisfied by an interesting turn-based strategy experience. I highly recommend you take the time to read the entire thing.

True to form, Sulla has written an incredibly lengthy and detailed analysis declaring the design for Civ 5 deeply, deeply flawed beyond what any patch could possibly fix. I was hoping that the patch would improve SullaвЂ™s opinion of the game and perhaps demonstrate that the title could be salvaged, but apparently it was not to be. He has spent the entire last decade playing Civilization games and writing some of the best strategy analysis available anywhere, faithfully documenting all of it on his web page. I have nothing but the utmost respect for his keen understanding of the design mechanics that make a Civilization game work. With the recent Civ 5 patch released to address so many issues, the one opinion I was waiting the most for was SullaвЂ™s.
